Opening to and embodying - your Inner Healer

The psychedelic renaissance is here. The therapeutic use of these medicines is not for everyone, but if you are wondering if it’s for you and wonder if you can prepare for the experience, the answer is yes.

🌿 Waking Up, Growing Up, and Showing Up

Two paths. One truth. No shortcuts.

There’s a phrase you’ll sometimes hear in spiritual or psychedelic circles:
Wake Up. Grow Up. Show Up.

It points to three stages of transformation:

  • Wake Up – Those moments of powerful realization or spiritual opening, often catalyzed by psychedelics, meditation or life itself. Awareness of these things is important, but don’t just chase peak experience after peak experience (or insight after insight) and become an Insight Surfer.. You must include Grow Up and Show Up..

Grow Up – The process of emotional and psychological integration. Facing your patterns. Getting off Autopilot, working skillfully with faulty thinking…Healing your past. Becoming responsible, not crutching on your history as an excuse.

  • Show Up – Bringing all of that into daily life. Your relationships. Your work. Your choices. Your commitments.

This three-step path is essential, especially after a psychedelic experience. Insight is not the same as embodied transformation, and what is revealed in expanded states must be lived, felt, and integrated in ordinary life.

🧘‍♀️ The Meditative Path

In most contemplative traditions, like Unified Mindfulness, these same steps appear, but in a different order:

  • First, you Show Up — by training your attention, grounding in presence, and committing to daily practice.

  • Then, you Grow Up — by taking ownership of your path, making clear choices, and not using your history as an excuse.

  • Finally, over time, you may Wake Up to a direct realization of non-dual awareness—the spaciousness behind it all.

The sequence shifts, but the message is the same:
Real healing asks us to embody the insight, not just chase it.

✨ Why This Matters: being an insight surfer is not enough.

Whether you're walking a meditative path or navigating a psychedelic one, the healing invitation is the same:

  • Don’t stop at the fireworks.

  • Don’t confuse insight for wholeness.

  • Let what you learn change how you live.

Because the real magic isn’t just in waking up—
It’s in who you become when you grow up and show up, too.

I mentor each one of these phases. These are all cultivatable skills that are available to anyone. It takes practice and time, but once you have these skills, they are yours for life.

I also extensively discuss guide/facilitator selection (red flags/green flags), intention setting, mindset (set), and setting, so whatever you decide, you can give yourself the best chance possible of having a holistic, healing experience before, during, and after your experience.
